My eldest, Anna, has been doing ballet this year, and her teacher Jessie got married in the July school holidays. Anna loves going to ballet every week and so I made a card for her to give her wonderful teacher.

A Birthday Party

Hello again. Here is a card I have made, almost directly copied from Kirsty Brown’s card found here. I fell in love with this card the moment I saw it. My daughter had her first invite to a party from a fellow preschooler. It was also her first party at McDonalds, so it was so very exciting for her. I let her pick the card she wanted me to make for her friend. I gave her a choice of several cards and it was Kirsty’s one that she choose. Which was good, because I wanted to make one anyway. So away I went. It was not as straight forward as I first thought however. I assumed that the butterflies could be punched out with the butterfly punch. However if you do that, you lose the antenna. I tried cutting them with scissors, but they just didn’t look right. So I actually emailed Kirsty to ask her how she did it. She was very lovely and replied with a few tips. One thing stood out to me. She mentioned that I might see a faint outline if I looked closely enough, and that yes she had cut them out with scissors. That was what I needed to hear! So I traced around the inside of a butterfly punched piece of cardstock and cut around that line. It took some practicing, but I finally managed to cut them out fairly neatly, neatly enough to be used. Mine isn’t as good as Kirsty’s card, but that ok, Ill get better with time. Anyway here is the card:

Valentines Day

I know, I know it March, Valentines Day was a month ago! But I was so proud of this card I just had to show you. I always ask Lee what he thinks of the cards I make, and he’s pretty honest. Some of them he admits he doesn’t like. One common comment he makes is….. I like the card, don’t like the ribbon though. He’s into very plain, simple cards, no fuss, no embellishments. So for Valentines Day I came up with this…….

It’s very plain, very simple, but I love the way it looks! I used the I (Heart) Hearts Stamp set, and embossed the filigree heart with white embossing powder. I just love the way it turned out. This was the week I also discovered just how great Baja Breeze is. I can’t believe it took me this long!! I’ve made a few things in the last month using BB. It just calls to me now. Later I’ll post a card I made for a stamp-a-stack I had last month. It was my new favourite colour (until I saw the Autumn mini). Anyway, Lee was really happy with the card, which made me really happy.

Almost the Same!

Sorry for being gone for so long, life has just gone by so fast! Here are a couple of cards, almost exactly the same. The first is a copy of one I found on the net (I can’t remember where, I’m sorry). I made this for my Grandmother. When I made it again for a friend I wanted to change the ribbon, as it just wasn’t working for me. So I used some Rhinestone brads instead, and was much happier with the result! I also used a different stamp in the background on the second card.

Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I made for a good friend of mine who recently moved to Melbourne. It was her birthday just after she moved. I used a stamp from the new set For Everything from the Summer Mini. I really like this set! I stamped the flower flourish in Perfect Plum three times, then coloured in with blender pens and in Stampin’ pads.

Lovely Handbags

Hello, sorry I haven’t posted anything for a while. The lead up to Christmas was busy and computer time was hard to find, let alone time to stamp! Here are some handbags I made in early December. A friend of mine suggested we try and make the handbag from page 65 of the Idea Book and Catalogue. We didn’t make one exactly the same, but it’s close. I actually made three of these, one for my sister Caro, one for a workshop and one for a future hostess. Here they are:

I’m really happy with the way these turned out and they are actually really quick and easy to make! I’ll be making more of these in the future.

Summer Mini Catalogue

The Summer Mini Catalogue is here! So many things to add to my list of things to buy. The first set I bought was the For Everything set. For some reason it just grabbed my attention straight away. The following card was made for my Grandmother to say thank you for sending birthday cards for myself and Josh the last few months. People like receiving thank you cards, but my Grandmother is a bit of a stickler for them. It’s rude not to send her one. She loves flowers and being spring/summer I was drawn to the bright colours. I like the colours used on the cards on p.13 of the mini catalogue, but changed them slightly to be bold brights. I have since received a thank you phone call from Grandma to thank me for sending her a thank you card. : )
